I created these outlines of a pretty knobbed whelk seashell for anyone to use as a free printable. I’m offering my drawings for free to be used as personal coloring pages for kids – not to re-sell or use to make money. Individual art is copyright protected, so use it as it is meant to be used. I hope that homeschooled kids especially will enjoy learning about these marine snails and the houses they make. Seashells are actually very cool.
The knobbed whelk is a beautiful seashell created by a marine snail. I wrote a page on this blog about the prettiest whelk I came across while visiting an island along the Indian River. It was my inspiration for this artwork.
The gastropod (snail) that makes this shell is one I never see out in the wild. The big shell I found contained a huge hermit crab. I took some photos and put the shell back on the sand, in shallow water, where I found it.
