Pen Shells

Pen shells can be very large, up to a foot in length, but most of the ones I have found were broken. Patricia B. Mitchell wrote a nice piece about this shell and has a photo. They can be found in a variety of colors but the striking thing about them is the iridescent quality.
She says that the shell meat is eaten and is similar to a scallop.
