Olive shells are long and slender and smooth. They come in a variety of colors -as you can see on my mousepad photo below- and the yellow, or Golden Olive, is a bit rare from what I’ve read.
The Lettered Olive gets it’s name from the markings that can (by using your imagination) look like letters of the alphabet. They are shiny unless the waves and sand have dulled them.
It is found along the South Carolina and Florida coasts and is the state shell of South Carolina.
